Mingalarbar

Novice monks.
With Myanmar now being a big part of our lives it is necessary to learn some local words and phrases. Perhaps a good start is with the formal greeting of Mingalarbar meaning, good morning, good afternoon, good evening or good day. This expression invented during colonial times literally translates as 'having good things unto you'.

We have fond and happy memories of a trip we made here in 2009, never thinking we'd return, let alone one of us making it a semi-permanent home.

This had me return to photos we'd taken and in particular some of the locals we met along the way.
